Story Builder
A collaborative storytelling game where the plot is whatever your group makes it. Nobody writes alone, and nobody knows how it ends until it's read aloud.
- Players
- 3 to 8 players
- Length
- About 10 minutes a round
- Equipment
- One shared screen, plus a phone each
- Best for
- Creative groups and storytellers
How to play Story Builder
- 1
Everyone votes on an outline, like a speed-dating night at a bowling alley or a heist at an all-you-can-eat buffet.
- 2
One player picks the theme: film noir, nature documentary, telenovela, or anything they type.
- 3
Everyone gets their own part of the story and secretly fills in a few words for it on their phone.
- 4
The AI writes each part around its player's words. Then a second player chooses how it ends, from three ideas or their own.
- 5
The finished story is read aloud, and everyone guesses who made each part. Stump the room to score.
Tips to win
- Write for your part of the story: the opening sets the scene, the middle makes trouble, the big moment needs something huge.
- The theme changes everything. The same story as a nature documentary and as a soap opera are two different games.
- Specific beats random. "Grandma's basement" lands harder than "a house."
